dilaab update

The past two weeks seem like a blur, a very joyful one.

The week began with a much-needed trip to the movie-house with my nephews and nieces for Prince Caspian. Nothing beats a good film on the struggle between good and evil.

Work on the Dilaab News really takes time. Red tape at the post office does not help either. One just has to keep at it.

A GOOD MAN NEEDS OUR HELP.

More than a year ago, Fr Eddie Panlilio (also known as Among Ed), a priest of the Archdiocese of Pampanga, decided to run for governor. He did so as a very last resort and with great personal sacrifice. He made it and, as they say, the rest is history. One, however, might say the rest is still history in the making.

Among Ed, his team, and the people of Pampanga have shown that one can run for public office and win without resorting to dirty money or dirty tricks. They are effectively addressing corruption in the procurement process and have tremendously increased government revenues, as in the lahar quarrying fees, by just following the law.

Indeed, Among Ed has captured the imagination of people seeking a better country and deserves being adjudged “Filipino of the Year” for 2007 by the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

BUT OUR HERO AND HIS TEAM NEED OUR HELP.

Among Ed’s efforts at combating jueteng and other illegal activities are being undermined because he has not yet obtained his choice for the police director of the province despite his legal prerogative to choose and his having followed the rule of law.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THE JOB IS CRITICAL: A GOVERNOR AND A PROVINCIAL DIRECTOR NOT RECEIVING ILLEGAL MONEY IS ALREADY FIFTY PERCENT OF THE SOLUTION.

The official excuses given to justify not heeding the governor’s choice are unconvincing.

I am not from Pampanga but I am deeply concerned about this issue. What happens there affect all of us and our dream for a better nation. IT IS TIME WE MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD. LET US TELL OUR COMPATRIOTS IN PAMPANGA THAT THEY ARE NOT ALONE. LET US ALSO SEND A STRONG MESSAGE THAT WE WILL NOT STAND BY IDLY WHILE A GOOD MAN IS TREATED UNFAIRLY.

PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION AND SHARE IT WITH YOUR NETWORKS. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU.
